What a great site! This brings back a lot of great memories for me, not only because I grew up in Los Angeles and remember these shows vividly, but because my dad had his own kid's show in the 60's (his show ran Monday through Friday on KTTV channel 11, just after Hobo Kelly). I remember going with my dad to the studio many, many times, and meeting lots of wonderful people. I especially remember the time Sheriff John came to the set. My eyes about bugged out of my head. I was probably 6 and SO excited to meet him. I always remember how good his lunch looked on TV, and often wondered why mine never seemed as exciting. Thank you for a great, nostalgic trip filled with many happy memories for me!

WOW! What a great site! I happened to be cruising the net this morning and somehow ended up in the midst of a crowd of LA tv hosts I remembered from my 50s-era youth: Skipper Frank, Tom Hatten, Sheriff John, and my father Tim McCoy. It really brought back some great memories. (Including getting faked out by Engineer Bill on his red light-green light bit, and getting milk (with bosco?) spilled all over me.) Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Ron McCoy --Tim McCoy's Son |

Thank You very much. I was touched by your site. This was an answer to a dream that someday there might be such a site. You have done a beautiful job. I just Emailed it to my Dad and can't wait to hear his response. God Bless You, Chucko Jr. Randy Runyon -- Chucko's Son |

I see you've not only done a lot of thoro' research, but you got it straight! That's something few reporters do (I read a lot of bio. of folks I knew, places I've been, scenes I've visited--they're often peppered with mis-info.) So I, a frustrated biographer--truly take my hat off to you. And many thanx. --Maila Nurmi--Vampira |

First a mighty thanks to my husband Dan Smith for being so cool and vibrant in both his support and his memories. Interested in reading more on Horror Hosts across the nation? Elena M. Watson's book "Television Horror Movie Hosts: 68 Vampires, Mad Scientists and Other Denizens of the Late-Night Airwaves Examined and Interviewed" is a valuable resource on the subject and a wonderful tribute to the author's legacy. And to all involved in the 1984 Television show "Local Heroes" for rekindling that childhood spark. There are people out there who have been instrumental in helping make Local Legends the kind of site I'd hoped it could be and I'd like to thank them. Teeny Elvis/Tony Veach for mutual Seymour worship and the concept of doing a page when none existed. Jim Fetters for being there first with support and good vibes. Tim Hollis for filling in the gaps on hosts not only in LA but across the nation. Thanks for everything! You are more than a big help. Bruce Simon for making Skipper Frank's page finally come around and all the little extras that helped me fill in those blank spots. Mark Tanner-you ARE fantastic! And Rev. Dan for the Seymour certificate! A big thanks to everyone who makes this site richer by providing content and support! |
